The Swedish government announced on Wednesday that it would increase its military spending by about 3 billion Swedish kronor (289 million euros) this year to accelerate the rearmament of its armed forces in Russia. .
The aim is to strengthen capabilities in Gotland, the country’s largest island, increase the number of troops, increase fuel and ammunition supplies, and improve “supplies of materials and vehicles,” said Defense Secretary Peter Hulkvist. according to Swedish television networks.
Last week, Stockholm announced that it intends to increase its military budget to 2% of GDP as soon as possible and that talks are under way between the government and the opposition to speed up the process.
