The US has asked European member states to submit detailed proposals on weaponry, peacekeeping troops, and security guarantees they could provide to Ukraine to end the war.

Specifically, according to information from the FT, which cites Western officials, the request was sent to member states during the week when they asked to participate in Trump’s negotiations with Vladimir Putin.

French President Emmanuel Macron has invited select European leaders to a summit in Paris as early as Monday to discuss how Europe can boost support for Ukraine, following statements by US officials this week about the peace process.

Washington aims with its questionnaire, sent to governments by the US State Department, to gauge Europe’s willingness to protect Kiev after a peace settlement, as well as the price Europe is willing to pay in return for participating in negotiations with Moscow.

The State Department asked for details on what military hardware European capitals would be able to provide and the number of army brigades they would be willing to deploy, the officials said.

The US has said that it is ready to meet many of Putin’s key demands, throwing cold water on Ukraine’s bid to join NATO and claim territory currently held by Russia.
