Theon International Plc (THEON) announces that the Defence and Budget Committees of the German Parliament approved yesterday a new…
The Neapolis University Paphos and the Department of History, Politics and International Studies announced its accreditation and inclusion as a full member in the European Security and Defence College network as of 28/5/2024.
The University was declared a full member after an evaluation and presentation of the personnel and Study Programs of the Department of History, Political and International Studies, through an application, to the corresponding European body.
Among other things, the academic, professional and scientific achievements of the Department as well as of the University more broadly were highlighted in the standards. The application was completed in cooperation with and alongside the significant support of the Ministries of Defence and the Military Academy, as well as the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus.
In its decisions, the announcement of the ESDC Committee refers to the decision of March 22, 2024, in which the Neapolis University Paphos was decided to become a full member of its Network.
The ESDC operates within the framework of the European Union’s Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and, in particular, the European Union’s Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP).
The aim is to provide education and training at a European level, a practical understanding of the policies of the European Union among citizens and officers and to recognize and inform its members of good political practices in relation to the issues related to the common European Security policy and Defence of the European Union.
This development follows the inclusion, among others, of the Department of History, Politics and International Studies as a full member of the ESDC PhD programme, the ESDC’s postgraduate, doctoral and post-doctoral research pillar.
Furthermore, the inclusion of Neapolis University Paphos in the ESDC network as a full member is directly linked to the aims and objectives of the University, but also to the aims of the Department of History, Politics and International Studies for a wider promotion of Study Programs and the practical involvement of students, academics and experts in the field of education and research.
The acceptance of the Department is a consequence of the presentation of the offered Programs and fully recognized Degrees awarded by Neapolis University both in the Republic of Cyprus and internationally in campus-based and distance learning programs in Greek and English at all three study levels.
