The wreckage of the Sikorsky CH-124 Sea King helicopter, which took off from the Canadian frigate HMCS Fredericton (FFH 337), has been identified only a while ago. Information confirms the death of one out of a total of 6 passengers. The HMCS Fredericton frigate participates in the NATO force SNMG2, in which both Greece and Turkey participate.
The helicopter, as we have already mentioned, crashed in a sea area west of Kefalonia and specifically 20 nautical miles west of the Athens FIR limit. For this reason, there has been no involvement of the Greek authorities in the investigation and rescue.
