According to an announcement by the General Staff of the National Guard, the Navy Command carried out a small-scale exercise on Thursday, August 26, 2021, with the participation of the Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) IOANNIDIS and the Coastal Patrol vessels TSOMAKIS, GEORGIOU and FAMAGUSTA. The exercise focused on educational objectives in an exercise area in the sea area south of Limassol.
The objectives set, as well as the objective purpose of the exercise, were to promote the level of operational capability of the participating Units. The exercise included live fire against surface targets, technical drills, and progressive tactical maneuvers.
This exercise provides the opportunity to the Units of Naval Command to conduct effective joint training on various areas in the marine environment.
