The US military announced midday Friday that it had killed ISIS leader Abu Yusuf in an airstrike in Deir ez-Zor province.
Defence Ministers of Russia, Turkey, Iran and Syria and the heads of the intelligence services of these countries had “constructive talks” yesterday in Moscow, as part of the negotiations aimed at restoring bilateral relations between Ankara and Damascus, after years of hostility between the two countries during the Syrian civil war.
According to the announcement of the Turkish Ministry of Defence, the four Ministers and the heads of the intelligence services discussed the strengthening of security in Syria and the normalization of relations between Ankara and Damascus.
For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defence stressed that all four countries confirmed their will to preserve the territorial integrity of Syria and the need to intensify efforts for the rapid return of Syrian refugees to their homeland.
