Mitsotakis-Macron meeting in Corsica today

Today, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has a crucial meeting in Corsica with French President Emmanuel Macron, in order to seal the close cooperation between Greece and France on a number of critical issues, such as the escalation of the Turkish provocation in the Eastern Mediterranean, the European response to the immigration issue and other matters that will be discussed at the Euro-Mediterranean Conference. High on the agenda of today’s meeting are also the strengthening of bilateral defence cooperation and issues of armaments programs.

In fact, the Prime Minister, with an article published simultaneously in three major foreign newspapers, chose to address the international audience and analyze the Greek positions.

In a post on FB, the French president expressed France’s solidarity with Greece, regarding the fire in the Moria refugee camp, referring to his upcoming meeting with the Greek Prime Minister. The leaders of Spain, Italy, Portugal, Cyprus and Malta will also be present at the Corsican Conference.

The Prime Minister arrives in Corsica at noon and, according to the program, he will have a meeting with representatives of the Greek Cargese community. Then, his meeting with the President of the French Republic is scheduled for 16:00 and at 17:30 he will attend the plenary session of the Mediterranean Conference chaired by Mr. Macron. At 19:30, a joint press conference will be given, while the day will end with a formal dinner.
