On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, the Search and Rescue exercise “CYPITA 01/23” took place with the participation of the air and naval forces of the Republic of Cyprus and Italy.
According to a relevant announcement, the exercise was carried out in a sea area south of Cyprus, within the Search and Rescue area of responsibility of the Republic of Cyprus, with the participation of the Amphibious Operations Vessel “ITS SAN GIUSTO”, an NH-90 helicopter of the Italian Navy and the Warship “TSOMAKIS” of the Naval Command of the National Guard General Staff.
The Larnaca Search and Rescue Coordination Center had the operational control and coordination of the participating means. The said exercise is part of the implementation of the Bilateral Defence Cooperation Program between Cyprus and Italy.
