Iran has fired missiles, guided by Artificial Intelligence, during military training exercises in Gulf waters, state media reported today.
Since Friday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran’s ideological army, has been conducting drills in southwestern Iran, in the Gulf waters, and in Bushehr and Khuzestan provinces, according to state television.
The Guards’ naval force fired Ghaem and Almas missiles equipped with Artificial Intelligence from advanced Mohajer-6 and Ababil-5 unmanned aerial vehicles, the official IRNA news agency reported. These missiles successfully destroyed supposed enemy targets in southwestern Iran, IRNA added.
These drills made it possible to protect sensitive facilities, such as the Asaluyeh gas and oil complexes, the Bushehr nuclear power plant, oil rigs, and refineries, the commander of the naval force of the Guards, Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, stated, according to television.

This announcement was made after President Donald Trump took office in the US, a supporter of a policy of maximum pressure on Iran during his previous term (2017-2021).
Trump said on Thursday that he wants a deal with Iran, a sworn enemy of the United States and Israel, hoping to avoid strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
Iran, whose equipment was once largely made in US, was forced to build its own weapons when Washington and Tehran severed diplomatic relations after the 1979 Islamic Revolution and US sanctions.
Iran now has one of the most extensive military-industrial complexes in the world. Iran manufactures its weapons domestically, ranging from anti-aircraft defence systems to missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. Apart from the United States and China, few countries in the world have their own AI technology.
In August, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had called on the government to invest further in this sector.
