Iran presented two new anti-aircraft defence systems, according to the IRNA agency.

Two domestically manufactured mobile systems, named Arman and Azarakhsh, were presented at the ceremony in the presence of Iranian Defence Minister, Mohammad Reza Astiani.

With the new systems joining the country’s defence network, the Islamic Republic’s anti-aircraft defence capabilities will be significantly enhanced, IRNA said.

According to the same source, the Arman missile system can simultaneously engage six targets at a distance of 120 to 180 km, while the Azarakhsh can detect and destroy targets at a distance of up to 50 km with four ready-to-launch missiles.

In June, Iran unveiled a domestically-built hypersonic ballistic missile, called the Fattah, with a range of 1,400 kilometers, according to Iranian officials.

The announcement came amid heightened tensions in the region, with Yemen’s Shiite Houthi rebels launching a series of attacks on ships linked to the US, Britain and Israel in the Red Sea in a show of support for the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
