A US F-15 fighter jet came close to an Iranian airliner at a visual reconnaissance distance on Thursday, even though the distance kept was safe, two U.S. government officials told Reuters.
One of the officials, who spoke to the agency anonymously, confirmed that the incident took place in Syrian airspace.

Earlier, Iran’s IRIB news agency reported that two US fighter jets had intercepted an Iranian airliner in Syrian airspace, forcing its pilot to drop altitude, slightly injuring several passengers.
