US airstrikes on areas controlled by Houthi rebels in Yemen have killed at least 31 people and injured 101, according to a new toll released by the rebels today.
The airstrikes targeted Sana’a, the north-western province of Sa’ada, the central province of Al-Bayda, and the city of Radaa, also in central Yemen, according to a statement on social media platform X by Anis Al-Asbahi, a representative of the Houthi Ministry of Health.
Via the Truth Social platform, US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he had ordered airstrikes against Houthi positions, citing attacks by pro-Iranian rebels on ships in the Red Sea.
Trump warned the Iran-backed Yemeni rebels that if they did not cease their attacks, they would face “hell like they have never seen before.” At the same time, he called on Iran to immediately halt its support for the Houthi terrorists.

The US airstrikes were launched days after the Houthis announced plans to resume attacks on ships in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, and the Gulf of Aden, ending a lull that had begun in January following the ceasefire in Gaza.
Since November 2023, the Houthis have launched more than 100 attacks on ships they believe are linked to Israel, the US, and Britain, claiming they are acting in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
Saturday’s strikes were carried out in part by fighter jets from the aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman, currently stationed in the Red Sea, officials said.
The US military’s Central Command, which oversees troops in the Middle East, described Saturday’s strikes as the beginning of a large-scale operation across Yemen.
