Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently announced that the Long Neptune cruise missile, with a range of 1,000 km, has entered operational service for the first time.

Zelensky emphasised in a related Telegram post that the Long Neptune missile had been successfully tested and deplyed on the battlefield.

It is worth noting that this is the upgraded version of the well-known Neptune-class anti-ship missile system, which was used to sink the Russian flagship “Moskva» in April 2022.

However, the improved configuration of the Ukrainian missile appears to feature a larger fuel capacity, enabling its extended range. As Zelensky hinted, it was used in Ukraine’s missile attack on Rosneft’s oil refinery in the Russian city of Tuapse.
