The Tactical Exercise entitled “IASON 2/2021” was successfully conducted in the framework of the Annual Military Cooperation Program between Israel and the Republic of Cyprus.
The exercise was conducted and coordinated jointly with the Israeli Air Force (IAF) and was held day and night in a large part of the land and air space of the free territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
The scenario included the virtual downing of a friendly helicopter in an enemy area, the survival of pilots in enemy territory, and the process of locating and rescuing pilots by a rescue team.
The organization and execution of the said and other similar exercises are the culmination of the stable and enhanced cooperation between the Armed Forces of the Republic of Cyprus and Israel.
In addition, it is an opportunity for exchange of knowledge and experiences between the participating forces so as to upgrade their professional training and in turn a significant contribution to the increase of operational capabilities of the National Guard personnel. Furthermore, the exercise enhances interoperability and demonstrates in practice the excellent relationship between the Armed Forces of the two countries.
