HNDGS | The Hellenic Armed Forces participate in Allied Exercise “DYNAMIC MANTA 2023”

From Monday, February 27 to Friday, March 10, 2023, the Hellenic Armed Forces are participating in the Allied Exercise “DYNAMIC MANTA 2023” held in the wider sea area east of Sicily.

Exercise “DYNAMIC MANTA 2023” is a LIVEX/ASW/ASUW-type (Live Exercise/Anti-Submarine Warfare/Anti-Surface Warfare) exercise conducted by NATO on an annual basis, aiming to train the participating forces in complex operational scenarios and in a multi-threat environment. The exercise places an emphasis on Anti-Submarine Warfare and Surface Warfare to increase interoperability and strengthen the Alliance’s deterrence capability.

According to the relevant announcement of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS), the Hellenic Armed Forces participate in the exercise with Frigate PSARA, which is part of Standing NATO Maritime Group Two (SNMG 2), Submarine PIPINOS, an Unconventional Warfare Unit of the Underwater Demolition Command as well as with 1 Officer from the newly-established Special Warfare Command of the HNDGS as a Special Operation Command and Control Element (SOCCE) on Frigate PSARA for the coordination and control of the Special Operations (SOF Playbook).

In addition to the Hellenic Armed Forces, forces from France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the USA, Spain, Italy, Canada, and Turkey are participating in the exercise along with the entire SNMG 2.
