On Monday, September 19, 2022, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Konstantinos Floros, inaugurated the new Intelligence Fusion Cell (IFC) which strengthens the capabilities of the newly-established Special Warfare Command of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS) throughout the scope of its mission.

The ceremony was attended by the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Charalambos Lalousis, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice-Admiral Stylianos Petrakis, the Chief of the Hellenic Coast Guard, Vice-Admiral Georgios Alexandrakis, the Commander of the Special Warfare Command, Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas, the Deputy Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff, Air Vice-Marshal Demosthenis Grigoriadis, on behalf of the Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff, Themistoklis Bourolias, the Deputy Chief of the Hellenic Police, Lieutenant General Georgios Gianninas, on behalf of the Chief of the Hellenic Police, Lieutenant General Constantinos Koumas, and the President of the War Museum of Athens & former Deputy Minister of Tourism Development, Mr. Anastasios Liaskos.

According to a statement by HNDGS, during his short greeting, the Chief of HNDGS referred to the contribution of the new IFC of the Special Operations Forces to the search, collection, processing, and distribution of information as well as to their operational utilization.

He also emphasized that the new IFC is now an organic part of the Special Warfare Command, while its new facilities with upgraded equipment and high-security standards strengthen its mission and that of the Units falling under the same.

Then, he referred to the staffing of the IFC with specialized personnel both from the Hellenic Armed Forces and from the Hellenic Police, the Hellenic Coast Guard, and the National Intelligence Service (NIS), giving it not only a joint but also a multi-service character. 

He also emphasized that the possibility of integrating the new Cell into the Allied web of Special Operations Intelligence Cells will enhance synergy and interoperability in the field of Intelligence sharing and contribute to increasing its operational capability both nationally and at the NATO level.

Concluding his greeting and addressing all those involved in the construction of the new facilities of the Cell, he congratulated them on the rapid completion of this very important project and then visited the facilities where he was informed about its organization and operation.
