On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, First Year Naval Cadet K.E., on board the PROMETHEUS General Support Ship as part of the Summer Training Course of the Naval Academy, was taken to a hospital in Naples, Italy, as she developed a fever of unknown cause.
Early on August 24, her clinical condition rapidly deteriorated and she was admitted to the ICU where she died early on August 25.
According to a statement from the Hellenic Navy General Staff (HNGS), the exact causes of death are being investigated.
The Hellenic Navy General Staff expresses its sorrow for the loss of the Naval Cadet and its sincere condolences to her family and loved ones.
Likewise, the DEFENCE ReDEFiNED team expresses its sincere condolences to the deceased’s family and loved ones.
