Three contracts worth 14,372,700 euros, which provide for the supply of a total of 31 patrol vessels and three fast crafts, were signed between the Ministry of Shipping & Insular Policy and the company VIKING NORSAFE LIFE-SAVING EQUIPMENT GREECE.
The vessels in question are part of the overall armament program of the Hellenic Coast Guard, which has been ongoing for four years and is worth a total of 800 million euros.
Specifically, since the end of 2019, the Hellenic Coast Guard has designed an integrated and coherent armament program, which is implemented by utilizing every financial possibility provided by the European Funds of the 2014-2020 program period under completion.
In particular, the three contracts in question provide for the following:
The first contract worth €3,399,000.00 (exempt from VAT) concerns the supply of ten (10) inflatable patrol ships 11-12 m long with an air chamber or with a closed cell fender, which must be delivered within the next 18 months.
The technical characteristics of the vessels in question are the following:
- Length: 11.28 meters
- Width: 3.53 meters
- Maximum speed: 50 knots
- Service speed: 35 knots
- Maximum operational range at economic speed: 300 n.m.
- Crew: 12 people
- Engines: 2X Volvo D6-440hp DPI
- Fuel: Marine diesel
- The vessels have modern navigational and communication equipment
The project is co-financed by the Operational Program for Fisheries and the Sea.

The second contract worth €10,374,000.00 (exempt from VAT) concerns the supply of twenty-one (21) patrol vessels with marine-type diesel engines and a total length of 11.28 meters, which must be delivered within the next 16 months.
The technical characteristics of the vessels are as follows:
- Length: 11.28 meters
- Width: 3.61 meters
- Maximum speed: 50 knots
- Service speed: 35.1 knots
- Maximum operational range at economical speed: 303 n.m.
- Number of Passengers: 12 people
- Engines: 2X Volvo D6-440hp DPI
- Fuel: Marine diesel
- The vessels have modern navigational and communication equipment
The project is co-financed by the Internal Security Fund, the Financial Support Instrument for Border Management and Visa Policy. Additionally, one of the vessels is co-financed by the Regional Operational Program of the Ionian Islands.
Finally, the third contract worth €599,700.00 (exempt from VAT) concerns the supply of three (03) fast patrol vessels (tender) to meet the needs of offshore vessels.
The project is co-financed by the Internal Security Fund (IDF) and the vessels in question should be delivered within the next ten months.
