Through the Immigration and Internal Affairs Funds of the European Union, the Special Service for the Coordination and Management of Immigration and Internal Affairs Programs of the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum proceeded with the provision of €105.500.000 in funding for the acquisition of 50 new fast patrol vessels for the Hellenic Coast Guard.
In particular, the Special Service for the Coordination and Management of Immigration and Internal Affairs Programs, with an invitation entitled “Supply of fast patrol boats and vessels for the Hellenic Coast Guard”, invites the latter to submit a Proposal for participation in the program “Instrument of Financial Support for Border Management and the Visa Policy Fund for Integrated Border Management for 2021-2027”.
Through this action, the operational capability of the Hellenic Coast Guard will be strengthened, which will contribute to the control and monitoring of illegal immigration flows, the protection of human life, and the fight against crime at maritime borders.
According to the relevant announcement, the aim of this action is to procure:
- Two (2) coastal patrol vessels over 30 meters long;
- Five (5) fast patrol vessels over 17.5 meters long;
- Two (2) special operations and boarding vessels of the Underwater Operations Unit;
- Eleven (11) fast patrol vessels up to 13 meters long, with medical equipment for the transport of sick/injured people;
- Ten (10) fast patrol vessels over 18 meters long;
- Twenty (20) fast patrol vessels up to 13 meters long.
