Grenade detected in open space in Aradippou

A defensive grenade was detected and destroyed with a controlled explosion by police pyrotechnics in Aradippou.

According to the Police, around 4.00 yesterday afternoon, information was received from a citizen, according to which a grenade was found in an open space within a residential area.

Members of the Police rushed to the area where they located the grenade.

The scene was blocked and, following the investigations, it was found that it was a defensive grenade, which was oxidized, yet still operational.

Due to the danger of the grenade, it was deemed necessary to destroy it on the spot. Thus, around 6.30 in the afternoon the grenade was destroyed with a controlled explosion by the pyrotechnicians of the Police.

The case is being investigated by the Aradippou Police Station.
