On Thursday, November 02, 2023, an award ceremony for the Team of the 7th Mechanized Infantry Brigade was held at the Headquarters of the General Staff of the National Guard (GEEF). During its participation in “CAMBRIAN PATROL – 2023”, held in Wales on October 5-15, 2023, the said Team stood out among a total of 108 Teams from 40 countries and was awarded a Bronze Medal for its overall performance in the highly demanding operational scenarios examined.
As part of the ceremony, the Team was congratulated, and subsequently, the Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas, congratulated its members on their effort and performance, which shed light on the National Guard in front of a wide international audience, demonstrating their professionalism.
He referred to the importance of the painstaking effort they put in during their preparatory training with the assistance and support of the GEEF Special Forces Command, through which the lessons learned from previous years’ participations were utilized.
Finally, he presented the effort and performance of the Team as an example to be emulated and urged everyone to spread the experiences they gain and promote the concept of “fair play” to the entire personnel.
“CAMBRIAN PATROL” is organized annually by the United Kingdom in the eponymous mountain range in Wales and the National Guard has been participating since 2018. Its purpose is to evaluate the fighting ability of the participating Teams, in conditions of noble rivalry and healthy competition in an international environment.
Subjects covered include, but are not limited to, mission planning and issuing orders, fire support request procedures, first aid, obstacle crossing course, and a 60 km full gear course during which the Teams are evaluated in various emergency scenarios.
