Four US MK-V Special Operations Crafts for the needs of the Greek Underwater Demolition Command

On Friday, April 10, 2020, the Chief of Defence (CHOD), General Konstantinos Floros, accompanied by the Chief of the Navy Rear Admiral Stylianos Petrakis visited Salamina Naval Base and saw the four MK-V Special Operations Crafts (SOC), which were recently acquired by the US Navy as to meet the operational needs of the Underwater Demolition Command (DYK).

The transfer of the four MK-Vs from the USA was completed on Monday, April 6, 2020 at the Salamis Naval Base, where they will remain for the execution of the required inspections, maintenance and repair works in the context of their activation.

The visit was also attended by the US Secretary of Defense in Greece, Captain Timothy N. Ketter, and the representative of the US Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) in Greece, Admiral Anthony Garner.

These SOCs acquired through the US Excess Defense Articles (EDA) programs are considered to significantly enhance the operational capabilities of the DYK.
