New heights for FEAC Engineering, which has been honoured with the European Defence Agency (EDA) Innovation Award 2024 during the agency’s Annual Conference in Brussels.
This prestigious award, which celebrates innovative technologies and solutions in the fields of defence and security, focused this year on Critical Maritime Infrastructure Protection and cognitive sensing for enhanced systems intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR) Systems.
The company, based in Patras, Greece, stood out in the domain of critical maritime infrastructure protection with its groundbreaking platform, PITHIA, which now carries a European seal of approval as a significant technological innovation.
The PITHIA platform integrates physical simulations, real-time data, and artificial intelligence to produce highly accurate digital twins of critical maritime infrastructure, including ports, submarine pipelines, offshore wind turbines, and communication cables.
This fusion of technologies allows for the early detection of problems, patterns, and anomalies, predicts potential threats and takes proactive measures to safeguard infrastructure.
The significance of PITHIA lies in its ability to enhance operational awareness and equip operators with tools to better protect maritime infrastructure, even against military-grade threats. This solution can, therefore, contribute to maintaining security and operational readiness across Europe.
This award highlights the FEAC Engineering team’s expertise and commitment to engineering and innovative solutions.
As Charilaos Kokkinos, the company’s co-founder, stated during the conference, FEAC’s ambition is to bridge the gap between the physical and digital worlds.
It is worth noting that FEAC had previously received the Seal of Excellence Award from the European Commission for PITHIA and is already participating in two major European programmes, Eurocorvette and Seacure, with the multinational Thales as the lead company.
The latter programme involves the development of an integrated system of unmanned platforms to conduct joint anti-submarine warfare and seabed warfare operations, ensuring the protection of critical maritime infrastructure.
Finally, FEAC is also a key partner of the multinational Siemens in the areas of smart software and techical support.
