Exercise “LEON – RETURN” | Infantry offensive for defensive line breakdown – Photos

In the context of the exercise “NIKITIS-DIMITRA 2021”, the 6th Mechanized Infantry Brigade conducted a Tactical Mechanized Infantry Battalion-level exercise, codenamed “LEON – RETURN”. 

This was a dual action exercise and the scenario it focused on, was a counterattack for defensive line breakdown. For the execution of the scenario, a Mechanized Infantry Battalion was deployed on a forward defence line, supported by its organic support weapons. 

The counterattack was carried out by a Tactical Mechanized Infantry Battalion and was supported by the Brigade Units (155 mm artillery, 120 mm mortars, HOT and MILAN anti-tank guided missiles) as well as by two Mi 35 helicopters. Units of the Brigade Logistics Corps also participated in the exercise.

The exercise was attended by the Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Demokritus Zervakis, and the Deputy Chief, Lieutenant General Costas Chrysiliou. During the exercise, the participants’ high level of training, readiness and high morale were noted.
