During the first day of EUROSATORY 2024, ARKEOCEAN, the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI), LANEGO and SignalGeneriX signed an agreement to jointly develop a micro-submarine swarm system with underwater docking stations integrated into artificial coral reefs.

According to a relevant announcement, the “EONIOS” system will explore and protect designated underwater areas, including marine ecosystems and biodiversity.

The technology under development can be utilized alongside the surveillance and security of critical underwater infrastructures and facilities.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the International Defence Exhibition EUROSATORY 2024, which takes place in Paris, during a ceremony organized at the Cypriot pavilion in the presence of government officials from both France and Cyprus.

This agreement follows the recent signing of a two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the same parties to establish cooperation in research, innovation and technological development in marine and maritime technology as well as to develop skills and knowledge in the marine and maritime sectors.

The signing of “EONIOS” demonstrates the commitment of ARKEOCEAN, CMMI, LANEGO and SignalGeneriX to contribute to the promotion of marine and maritime industry in Mediterranean and beyond, strengthening bilateral relations between France and the Republic of Cyprus in areas of utmost importance, such as research and innovation in marine and maritime science and technology.
