Swarmly and Arkeocean have agreed in Cyprus to collaborate on Autonomous Underwater Systems (AUVs).

The agreement was signed within the framework of the 1st Business Workshop between Cyprus and France, which took place on May 16 and 17, 2023 in Nicosia.

Swarmly Aero is based in Cyprus. The company is active in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles, while the unmanned vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) UAV Poseidon H10 is currently operating in Ukraine by the Ukrainian Army. Also, the company showcased its naval capabilities with the Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) B5 Hydra at the International Defence and Security Exhibition DEFEA 2023 in Athens the previous week.

Arkeocean is based in France and has been active for over a decade in the field of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) including Loitering AUV. The latter are a new generation of underwater drones that can patrol an area of interest discreetly. Further, the company holds the world record of deploying over 200 AUVs at once.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of critical underwater infrastructure such as pipelines for gas, and cables for internet and electricity, while the recent incident with the North Stream 2 pipeline explosion showed how exposed those all are. However, with their combined technologies, Swarmly and Arkeocean seek to provide better safeguards to increase the resilience of such facilities.
