For the first time an army officer from Greece and specifically the Secretary of International Relations of the Panhellenic Federation of Armed Forces Unions (P.FE.AR.F.U), George Zgardanas, was elected to the Board of Directors of the European Military Organization EUROMIL.

This is a success that opens new horizons for the Greek active military personnel.

The European Organisation of Military Associations and Trade Unions (EUROMIL) was founded in 1972 and is the Pan-European Forum for the Cooperation of Military Federations. It consists of 32 Military Federations from 21 countries including Greece and Cyprus. EUROMIL aims to safeguard and promote the human rights and fundamental freedoms of the military by monitoring European developments.

EUROMIL is headquartered in Brussels and maintains formal contacts with the Council of Europe (CoE), the European Union institutions, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA), the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the European Confederation (ETUC).

Greece and P.FE.AR.F.U, the voice of the active military personnel, are honored for this great victory which gives an air of optimism and perspective for the future.

It is noted that in the past, a Greek Cypriot Officer, a member of the Association of Cypriot Army Officers, was elected to the Board of EUROMIL and the election of Mr. Zgardanas ensures the presence of a Greek-speaking Officer in the decision-making center of the Organization.
