A decisive step for the Greek Defence Industry was taken last week with the signing of the Articles of Association of the Defence Industry, Higher Education and Research Interconnection Company (“DefencEduNet”). The Articles have been signed by the company’s founding members.
The Hellenic Manufacturers Defence Materiel Association of (SEKPY) participates in the Articles of the first Defence Cluster in Greece together with:
- the University of Macedonia,
- the International Hellenic University,
- the Democritus University of Thrace,
- the University of Western Macedonia,
- CERTH,
- the Thess INTEC | Thessaloniki Innovation & Technology Center
After signing the Articles, the President of SEKPY, Mr. Anastasios Rozolis, and the Representatives of the Academic Community agreed on the implementation of the emblematic project based on Reliability – Consistency – Effectiveness by defining common goals and a specific framework of cooperation and activities.

The main objective of the joint venture is the strengthening of the scientific cooperation of the Hellenic Universities and Research Centers with the defence industry for the benefit of the National Defence, the Hellenic Armed Forces, the National Economy and the Scientific Community.
SEKPY and the other founding members, recognizing the potential benefits of the promotion of research, innovation and interdisciplinarity, cooperate so as to produce new dual-use products and technologies for the self-sufficiency and technological superiority of both the country and the EU.
This partnership will utilize the research and development mechanisms of Universities, Research Centers and companies of the domestic defence industry aiming at developing domestic and European defence technology with initiatives such as the European Defence Fund. At the same time, the goal is the participation of the scientific talent pool in European programs.
It is a common belief that promoting the cooperation of the domestic scientific and technological potential of companies with the corresponding potential of Universities and Research Centers will transform the domestic defence industry into a modern center of knowledge and technology production, capable of responding to modern challenges.
