At the International Defence and Security Exhibition DEFEA 2023 in Athens, Smart Shooter from Israel presented, among others, the sophisticated fire control system SMASH 3000.
The SMASH 3000 is Smart Shooter’s latest and most advanced fire control system. It is compatible with a multitude of rifles and different calibers such as M4, AR15, SR25 and has also been tested on the Tavor X95 which is available to the National Guard’s Special Forces. The system can also operate with rifle-grenades.

The SMASH 3000 contributes to tactical situational awareness, enables accurate target lock-on, as well as provides and receives information to the central control and command system. Its design allows for more efficient execution of anti-piracy missions, evacuation of prisoners and anti-drone operations, both in day and night operations.
SMASH 3000 technical characteristics:
- Weight: 740 g
- Optics: X1
- Endurance: 72 hours, up to 3600 shots
- Battery pack: Rechargeable smart lithium
The operation of the system is easy and can be summarized as below.
The operator observes the target, transferring the information to the central control and command system, while locking the target with a button placed on the weapons’ hand guard. This way the chances of failure due to the human factor are reduced. The system is already operated by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF).
It can engage ground targets, static or moving, at a distance of 300 meters and unmanned aerial vehicles at an altitude of 200 meters.
In the context of the modern network-centric combat environment, it interfaces directly to the soldier operating in the field with C4I systems, combat management systems and sensors.
During the presentation to the DEFENCE ReDEFiNED team at DEFEA 2023, we also viewed the SMASH X4 fire control system (with 4X zoom) which will soon be available with a thermal camera. Furthermore we were informed that the company will soon complete the SMASH X8 as well.
SMASH HOPPER
The lightweight SMASH HOPPER remote-controlled weapon station with an upgraded radar and communications system was also presented during DEFEA.
SMASH HOPPER technical characteristics:
- Azimuth / Panoramic angle: 360 degrees
- Elevation / Tilt Angle: -30 degrees – +70 degrees
- Weight: up to 25 kg
- Maximum payload: 40 kg
- Input voltage: 24V – 36V
- Operating temperature: 30-55 degrees Celsius
The SMASH HOPPER is compatible with 5.56 – 7.62 calibers and M4 and SR25 assault rifles. It engages the target remotely or automatically. It can engage ground targets such as enemy personnel or vehicles as well as aerial targets such as small drones. It can be integrated into an existing command and control (C2) system increasing tactical situational awareness between operators and the command center.
