Chief of Hellenic Armed Forces in India – Military Cooperation Program signed for the first time

From Saturday 06 to Thursday 11 April 2024, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS), General Dimitrios Houpis, made an official visit to India at the invitation of his counterpart, General Anil Chauhan.

During their meeting, the 2 Leaders had the opportunity to discuss matters of common interest, which included, among others, the regional and international situation as well as the emerging security challenges as a result of the prevailing instability around the globe.

During his stay in India, the Chief also met the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral R Hari Kumar, as well as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, with whom they discussed operational matters, emphasizing at the same time the special value of the military cooperation of the 2 countries.

In the context of the Chief’s visit, a Greece-India Military Cooperation Program was signed for the first time, which includes a number of activities to be carried out in both countries. The said activities are expected to further strengthen their military cooperation and excellent relations.

The Chief of HNDGS also laid a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi, while he had the opportunity to meet privately with the Ambassador of Greece to India, Mrs. Aliki Koutsomitopoulou, with whom they discussed the international developments in the wider region as well as the relations between the two countries.
