Russia yesterday recalled its ambassador to the United States for consultations in Moscow to discuss the future of Russian-American relations. This development came after the statements of US President Joe Biden that Vladimir Putin will “pay a price” for Moscow’s interference in the 2020 US presidential election and that he believes his Russian counterpart is “a killer”.
Moscow has recalled its ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, for consultations on reviewing the Russian-US relations, according to a statement issued by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

“Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov has been summoned to Moscow for consultations in order to analyse what needs to be done in the context of relations with the United States,” Zakharova said.
Moscow is interested in preventing an irreversible deterioration in its relations with Washington, Zakharova stressed. “The most important thing for us is to identify ways of rectifying Russia-US relations, which have been going through hard times as Washington has, as a matter of fact, brought them to a blind alley. We are interested in preventing an irreversible deterioration in relations, if the Americans become aware of the risks associated with this,” she added.
