Yesterday, December 6, 2020, an aeronautical exercise (PASSEX) took place in the sea area of ​​Southern Cyprus on the occasion of the presence of naval forces from France, Greece and Italy in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The four states are committed to upholding freedom of navigation in international waters and to oversee any deviation from respect for international maritime law.

The floating and flying means used in the exercise were the French Frigate FS ACONIT with its organic PANTHER helicopter, the Italian aircraft carrier ITS GARIBALDI, the Greek frigate HYDRA and on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus, the OSV IOANNIDIS and an AW-139 helicopter .

The exercise, which was coordinated by the General Staff of the National Guard, is part of the Quadripartite Initiative (QUAD) and is another step to enhance interoperability among the participating states.
