Even though an order was issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) demanding that the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) stop the military operations in the Gaza Strip, the Army started shelling the border town of Rafah, where the largest number of civilians are trapped.
The International Court of Justice, the UN’s highest judicial authority, also ordered Israel to keep the Rafah crossing open, which is essential for humanitarian aid, but has been closed since the start of its ground operation in early May.
At the same time, consultations have begun in Paris to reach a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and, according to the French presidency, discussions are taking place in the context of the “two-state solution”.

Earlier this week, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court requested the issuance of arrest warrants against leaders of Hamas and Israel.
