Anduril has unveiled a torpedo-inspired underwater attack drone in response to emerging maritime threats.

BAE System’s HyperVelocity Projectile (HVP) was showcased this week at the 2024 AUSA Global Force Symposium.
The HVP is designed to protect ground forces from incoming aerial threats.
Our Hypervelocity Projectile (#HVP) is unmatched in protecting ground forces from threats above. Don’t miss seeing it this week at #AUSAGlobal.

According to the company, this projectile will provide lethality and performance enhancements to current and future gun systems and allow for technological growth while reducing development, production, and total ownership costs.
The HVP is a next-generation, low drag, guided HyperVelocity projectile capable of executing multiple missions for a number of gun systems, such as the Navy 5-Inch, Navy, Marine Corps, and Army 155 mm systems, as well as future electromagnetic (EM) railguns.

Types of missions performed will depend on the gun system and platform, but range from Naval Surface Fire missions to Cruise and Ballistic Missile Defence, Anti-Surface Warfare, and other mission areas.
The HVP’s low-drag aerodynamic design enables high-velocity, manoeuvrability, and decreased time-to-target.

These attributes, coupled with accurate guidance electronics, provide low-cost mission effectiveness against current threats and the ability to adapt to future air and surface threats.
The high-velocity compact design relieves the need for a rocket motor to extend gun range. Firing smaller, more accurate rounds decreases the likelihood for collateral damage and provides for deeper magazines and improved shipboard safety.
