The US Army has successfully conducted a test launch of its new hypersonic missile system, “Dark Eagle,” after two years of delays.
Iran proceeded with the recent unveiling of the Fattah-2 hypersonic missile system.
For the first time, the new hypersonic missile system was unveiled during the visit of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to the latest achievements of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force on Sunday.
Fattah-2 was equipped with a hypersonic glide vehicle (HGV) warhead, which enables agile manoeuvres at extraordinary hypersonic velocities, as reported by Tasnim, an Iranian news agency.

The unveiling follows Iran’s earlier introduction, in June, of its first domestic hypersonic missile, named Fattah. Local media reported that Fattah, a two-stage missile, has an operational range of 1,400 km and an operational speed of Mach 13 (approximately 16,000 km/hour).
Notably, Fattah incorporates a spherical engine powered by solid fuel, coupled with adjustable nozzles, facilitating omnidirectional manoeuvres within and beyond Earth’s atmosphere, according to Tasnim.
Overall, Fattah-2 elevates Iran’s capabilities in hypersonic weapons, showcasing the country’s technological advancements in the domain.
