AmaDema-Advanced Materials Design & Manufacturing Ltd made its second appearance at the International Defence and Security Exhibition DEFEA, participating with 5 other companies in the Cypriot pavilion.
AmaDema-Advanced Materials Design & Manufacturing Ltd, a company based in Nicosia, was founded in November 2013, seeking to strengthen Cyprus’ position on the world map of the advanced composites industry.
Having been awarded the 2021 OEB Innovation Award in the Manufacturing Sector for the development of the innovative NanoWeld® technology, which not only secured a global patent, but also achieved a trademark registration in Europe and the USA, AmaDema’s team attended this year’s DEFEA bringing to the fore both the topic of Advanced Composite Materials and Nanotechnology for the Defence and Space Industries as well as the topic of Nano-enable Passive Anti-Ballistic Protection.
Indicatively, the company presented a variety of technical fabrics of high-level technology readiness such as NanoWeld® accompanied by Nano3DP, NanoTrode, e-NanoPrint, NanoFoam, and NanoFilter to reinforce existing constructions and materials for a multitude of applications such as the fields of space technology, energy, construction, aerospace, marine, automotive, defence and sports equipment.
In particular, in the field of defence, AmaDema provides advanced materials for vehicle armor systems, which provide protection at various levels according to the NATO STANAG 4569 protection standard.
In all of the above, the technological originality lies in exploiting the potential of nanotechnology and incorporating it into new nano-modified composite materials of continuous reinforcement such as carbon fibers, Kevlar, and glass synthetic fibers and glass to improve their anti-ballistic properties.
As a result, structures become up to 200% stronger, as well as up to 30% lighter compared to structures that make use of widely available composites or simple materials on the market today such as special ceramics or high-performance composites, which tend to be very expensive and heavy.
As such, in this direction, AmaDema is oriented to continuously optimize its advanced solutions with field tests to develop low-cost, low-weight, and high-protection armor technologies.
