The Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos II breathed his last, after a years-long fight with cancer. His Beatitude passed away at the age of 81, leaving his rich work behind.

In a post, the Minister of Defence, Charalambos Petridis, states: “I express my deepest sorrow for the death of the Archbishop of Nea Justiniani and all of Cyprus Chrysostomos II. His work was very important and essential for Orthodoxy, Cypriot Hellenism and the Church of Cyprus. May his memory live forever. Condolences to his family.”

The Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Demokritos Zervakis, reports: “Archbishop Chrysostomos II was a prominent Hierarch of the Church of Cyprus with a rich offering. His attitude towards the disease that has afflicted him strongly in recent years highlighted his faith, bravery and courage. May his memory live forever.”

Also, the Chief of the National Guard made statements on “Mesimeri kai kati” on SIGMA and the journalist Christos Michalaros, where he stated that Archbishop Chrysostomos II respected, loved, supported and held the Armed Forces of our country in high esteem.
