Russia tested a nuclear response to a nuclear attack against it amid accusations from Moscow and Kyiv about the possible imminent deployment of the so-called ‘dirty bomb’.
Chief of Staff, Valery Gerasimov, told Putin the exercise involved Yars intercontinental ballistic missiles, submarines, and Tupolev strategic bombers aircraft.
A Yars intercontinental ballistic missile was launched from Arkhangelsk targeting the Kamchatka Peninsula and a Sineva ballistic missile from the Barents Sea, while cruise missiles were deployed by the TU95 intercontinental bomber during the exercise.
According to Euronews, air, sea, and land strategic deterrence forces were deployed.
The video capturing the entire operation was observed by Vladimir Putin who was briefed by Russian Minister of Defence, Sergei Shoigu, and the Chief of the Armed Forces, General Valery Gerasimov.
According to the Kremlin announcement, all the missiles hit their targets with absolute precision, having identified their characteristics.

This is the second exercise of this type taking place this year. The first was conducted on February 19, just five days before the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the Russian President, speaking at a meeting with the intelligence chiefs of former Soviet countries, repeated his allegations of Ukrainian plans to deploy a ‘dirty bomb’.
The Kremlin earlier said it would continue to warn the international community that Ukraine intends to deploy a ‘dirty bomb’. In fact, Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, told reporters that Moscow requests a drastic response from the international community.
Ukraine and the West have rejected Moscow’s claims, made by several Russian officials in recent days, that Kyiv is preparing to deploy a ‘dirty bomb’, that is, conventional radioactive explosives.
The matter was discussed yesterday Tuesday before the UN Security Council at the initiative of Moscow.
