The first of the three Belh@rra frigates will bear the name “Kimon”, the Athenian general who fought for the liberation of Cyprus from the Persians. The second will bear the name “Nearchos”, the head of the fleet of Alexander the Great. The third will bear the name “Formion”, the Athenian admiral during the Peloponnesian war.
Construction has begun at Naval Group’s French shipyards. Τhe first two will be delivered to the Hellenic Navy in 2025 and the third in 2026.
