Increasing reports are now being released stating that the agreement on the supply of the Iron Dome air defence system has already been signed between Cyprus and Israel.
In particular, today’s article in “Kathimerini” reports that the decision has been adopted and the agreement with the Israeli side has already been signed. It is recalled that already at the beginning of October 2021, Sigma reported that the release of the relevant fund for the National Guard’s procurement of a variant of Israel’s Iron Dome was pending at the time of reporting.
One variant of the Iron Dome that may have interested the National Guard is the I-Dome, the mobile version of the former system.

The I-Dome is an integrated system, with all system components installed on a truck, consisting of a 6×6 truck chassis/launcher containing 10 Tamir missiles, a Battle Management & Control (BMC) operating station and an Active Electronically Scanned Array Multi-Mission Radar (3D AESA MMR).
Iron Dome is a combat proven system with more than 2,000 executed interceptions and a success rate greater than 90%. The system can intercept targets launched from distances of 4-70 kilometers at an altitude of up to 10 kilometers.
The above publications still need to be confirmed and more details are awaited on the exact characteristics of the system that the National Guard intends to procure.
