From March 22-24, 2022, the 8th Summit of European Land Forces Leaders was held at the headquarters of EUROCORPS in Strasbourg, France. Brigadier Lucas Hadjimichael, participated in the summit on behalf of the Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Democritus Zervakis, with the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Charalambos Lalousis. 

The Summit constitutes a field of exchange of ideas and views on issues of common interest between the Armies of the EU Member-States and other entities such as the US Army in Europe and Africa (USAREUR – AF). 

The main topic of the Summit was: “Collaborations, Integrations: Towards a stronger Europe”. In particular, crisis management and the European Army’s contribution to European security, crisis prevention through alliances with third countries and interoperability issues were discussed. 

On the sidelines of the Summit, the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff held bilateral meetings with the Commander of the US-Europe-Africa Command (USAREUR-AF), General Christopher Cavoli, as well as with his counterparts from France, General Pierre Schill, Italy, Lieutenant General Pietro Serino, the Netherlands, Lieutenant General Martin Wijnen and Romania, Major General Iulian Berdilă. Issues of common interest were discussed during the meetings, which took place in an excellent atmosphere.
