The US military announced midday Friday that it had killed ISIS leader Abu Yusuf in an airstrike in Deir ez-Zor province.
Given the security situation in the wider area of Odessa, the competent Consulate General suggested and got permission to carry out an evacuation operation in the area of Greek citizens and their families, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Operation “Nostos 2” took place today and 26 people were evacuated, as announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They were accompanied by the Consul General in Odessa, Dimitris Dohtsis.
According to the information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the above arrived in Moldova, where they were welcomed by the Ambassador of Greece to Romania, Sofia Grammata.
It is noted that the Consulate General in Odessa continues to operate, with the Consul General returning to his headquarters.
