USA – Philippines | The 9th Bilateral Strategic Dialogue was held

The United States and the Republic of the Philippines held their ninth Bilateral Strategic Dialogue on November 15-16 in Washington, according to a statement from the State Department press office.

Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Kritenbrink and Assistant Secretary of Defence Ely Ratner met with Philippine government counterparts, including the Ambassador of the Philippines to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez, Deputy Secretary of State Theresa P. Lazaro, and the Deputy Secretary of Defence, Cardozo M. Luna. Throughout the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to peace, security, and economic prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region.

Both countries consulted extensively on joint efforts to end the COVID-19 pandemic, respect the law of the sea in southern China, respect human rights and enhance the interoperability of the US and Philippines Armed Forces.

In addition, the two sides discussed concrete measures to deepen the economic relationship between the two countries by cooperating, inter alia, in areas such as science, technology, fisheries, and infrastructure.
