On Friday, October 1, 2021, the annual military parade will take place in the context of the celebrations of the 61st anniversary of the proclamation of the Independence of the Republic of Cyprus. 

The parade will start at 11 a.m. on Iosif X”Iosif Avenue and will be attended by mechanized and light infantry divisions as well as aerial means of the National Guard.

Before the start of the parade, the official reception of the President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Anastasiadis, will take place and then the flag will be raised, the National Anthem will be played and 21-gun salutes will be fired.

The President of the Republic will address a greeting at the parade, accompanied by the Minister of Defence, Mr. Charalambos Petridis, and the Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Democritus Zervakis.

The Hellenic Government will be represented by the Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikos Panagiotopoulos, who will be accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff of National Defence, General Konstantinos Floros. The military parade will also be attended by foreign Ambassadors and Defence Attachés.

In this year’s military parade, the presence of the public is allowed, according to relevant instructions of the Ministry of Health. A prerequisite is the possession of a safe pass and the use of a protective mask. It is noted that sampling checks will be carried out during the parade. 

Persons aged 12 years and above are required to present either a negative laboratory test or a rapid antigen detection test for COVID-19 taken in the last 72 hours, or a vaccination certificate for COVID-19 with at least one dose and provided that three weeks have elapsed since the date of vaccination, or a certificate of recovery from COVID-19, valid for six months from the date of initial diagnosis. 

It is understood that the presentation of the EU Digital Covid Certificate is acceptable for control purposes.
