The Ministry of Defence (MoD) of the Republic of Cyprus hails the participation of Cypriot Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in five more proposals of the European Defence Industrial Development Program (EDIDP) of the European Commission. The MoD considers this a significant success for local Research and Development (R&D) in the field of Defence and Security.
Among the programs that received approval and funding is the “JEY – CUAS: Joint European system for Counting Unmanned Aerial Systems”. The purpose of this project is to develop a counter-drone system. One of the main contributors to the program among 14 countries and 38 companies is the Cypriot company SIGNALGENERIX LTD.
The value of the programme is EUR 15,003,473 with the EU providing a maximum contribution of EUR 13,500,000.00 in order to pave the way for the development of a common European capability to counter Unmanned Systems.
#EDIDP https://t.co/iXEi69tpc1

According to the European Commission, “JEY-CUAS will advance technologies at system and subsystem levels to develop a new generation C-UAS system based on a modular and flexible Plug’n’Play architecture to address the emerging challenge of micro and mini drones increasingly used for defence purposes. The solution will contribute to an improvement of the situational awareness and reaction engagement to overcome the growing resilience of UASs to first-generation C-UAS systems to keep up with new Low, Small, Slow (LSS) aerial threats and reduce the minimum reaction time.
Furthermore, the system will be able to be deployed rapidly not only providing timely situational awareness but also ensuring the protection of troops in operational theaters. The project will meet the relevant certification requirements and regulations.
The goal is to develop methods and techniques through which illegal, hostile drones can be detected and engaged. The program is scheduled to last for two years. In case of success, it will be put into service within the European Union.
The Cypriot company SignalGeneriX, founded in 2005, is a key player in this effort with its specialized staff, long-term experience and its proven know-how.
Overall, the company provides exceptional Research and Development products in the field of Digital Signal Processing and Communications, always committed to providing its clients with innovative technologies and assistance in every step of the development of new solutions based on its intellectual property and proven technologies.
Its track record for successful product development is evident in more than fifteen products already in the market with proprietary technologies both in hardware and software. The company’s diversified portfolio of products, patents and trademarks has been creatively used to solve industrial problems for a wide range of industries and market sectors such as Smart Sensors and Medical Systems. However, in recent years the company has made huge steps in the Defence Industry as well.
Except for SignalGeneriX, greek companies participate in the program such as IMATIK LTD, PANEPISTIMIO DYTIKIS ATTIKIS (UNIWA), and HELLENIC AEROSPACE INDUSTRY SA.
