Instructions for upgrading the Athienou Police Station with the aim to improve the working environment of the Police, but also to better serve the citizens, were given by the Chief of Police Stelios Papatheis during his visit there.
A written announcement of the Municipality states that “the Chief of the Cyprus Police Stelios Papatheodorou, accompanied by other officials from the Headquarters and the leadership of the Larnaca Police Directorate, visited Athienou on Tuesday June 8, where he met the Mayor Kyriakos Kareklas and members of the Municipal Council.”
Initially, a meeting was held at the Athienou Police Station, “where the condition of the Station was discussed and the Chief gave instructions for the works that need to be done, so that the Station can be upgraded.”
A meeting followed at the Municipal Palace “in the presence of officials, the Sergeant of the Police Station and members of the Municipal Council of Athienou, where various issues, which concern the Municipality, but also the wider area, were discussed.

The Mayor of Athienou, Kyriakos Kareklas, thanked the Chief of Police for immediately accepting his invitation to visit the Municipality and discuss various matters with the Municipal Council, giving the necessary instructions for their resolution.
For his part, the Chief of Police Stelios Papatheodorou referred to “matters concerning the security and policing of the remote area of Athienou. Regarding the upgrading of the Athienou Police Station, he said that this will be done in the context of the general upgrade of the Police facilities, in an effort to improve the working environment of the Police members, but also to better serve the citizens.”
Then, the Chief of Police and his entourage visited the Kallinikeio Municipal Museum of Athienou, where a presentation of its three collections, Archaeological, Ecclesiastical and Ethnographic, was given.
