The identification of the four dead and the 23 wounded left behind by the 20-year-old perpetrator of the terrorist attack in the center of Vienna on Monday night was announced by the Police in the Austrian capital.
A 39-year-old Austrian, a 44-year-old Austrian, a 24-year-old German and a 21-year-old man from Northern Macedonia are dead. The total number of the injured is 23, aged between 21 and 43, of whom seven are women, according to the director of the Vienna Police Press Office, Manfred Reithaler.
The 24-year-old was a waitress and was shot in front of a restaurant in Ruprecht Square, the 21-year-old was shot at the corner of Bowerdmarkt and Fleismarkt streets (where the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church is located), the 39-year-old was shot in front of a restaurant while the 44-year-old succumbed to her injuries in hospital.
According to the police spokesman, 13 of the injured – including the 28-year-old police officer – were shot, while the others were injured, for example, by debris or while running away, with the majority of the injured coming from Austria. There are also citizens from Germany, Slovakia, Luxembourg, Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Several of the injured are already in home care, while, according to the Vienna Association of Health Services, three injured are in Intensive Care Units and their condition is stable.
