The speed boat “KERYNIA” has officially joined the force of the Navy of the National Guard.

The joining ceremony of the high-speed vessel took place during the celebration of Saint Nicholas, Patron Saint of the Navy, at the “Evangelos Florakis” Naval Base in Mari on December 6, 2024.

The high-speed vessel KERYNIA is a donation of Safe Bulkers Incorporated to the National Guard. 

In his greeting, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus, Vassilis Palmas, thanked the company, Safe Bulkers Incorporated and the CEO of the company Mr. Poly Hatziioannou, for the kind sponsorship. He added that “Due to the equipment it has, it will provide an operational benefit both in the ability to quickly move to the area of ​​the incident and in the ability to successfully carry out the operation in adverse weather conditions.

He also stated, “The donation of the speedboat is a sign of your concern for your special homeland and highlights your practical decision to strengthen its security, especially at a time when security and effective response to critical situations are of utmost importance. The ability to mobilise immediately and execute missions in adverse conditions enhances the readiness and strategic capability of our forces”.
