Donald Trump made an official announcement about his choice for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, choosing Senator Marco Rubio.
The Biden administration has stated its determination to help Ukraine fight its war against Russia before handing over power to President-elect Donald Trump in January.
US President Joe Biden will send “as much aid as possible” to Ukraine in his final months in office, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said during a trip to Brussels.
“President Biden is committed to making sure every dollar they have is pushed out the door between now and January 20,” when Donald Trump is set to take the oath of office, Blinken said.
The U.S. will “customize and adapt” the latest equipment it sends, although Blinken did not provide details on the specific military equipment the U.S. plans to send to Ukraine, which is approaching its third year of war with Russia.
He added that NATO countries should focus on ensuring that Ukraine “has the money, ammunition and mobilized forces” to either fight effectively in 2025 or negotiate peace from a position of strength.
There is a shadow of political uncertainty surrounding how the U.S. will approach its war policy after Trump’s inauguration.
The US is currently the largest provider of military aid to Ukraine, which is heavily dependent on it. Trump has not given specific details about what his administration’s approach to the war will be, but has said several times that he would consider cutting off funds to the war-torn country.
The war in Ukraine shows no signs of slowing down, with Russia on Wednesday launching a massive assault on the country’s capital, Kiev, with a combination of missiles and manned aircraft.
