A few hours after Donald Trump’s latest “prophecy” from the presidential Air Force One, that the US will finally succeed in taking control of Greenland from Denmark, Fredericksen convened an informal summit at her home on the defence and security of the region.
In particular, the leaders of Finland, Norway, and Sweden shared a simple, Scandinavian dinner with a “main course” on Donald Trump’s sovereignty claims for Greenland on Sunday night at the home of Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
In her post, they can be seen sitting next to Frederiksen, the Prime Minister of Sweden, Ulf Kristerson, and Norway’s Jonas Gahr Støre, as well as the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb.
Frederiksen took a swipe at Donald Trump, saying she had discussed with her counterparts the seriousness of the situation in terms of defence and security, and she was hearing from many that the state of the world made them feel unsafe.
At the same time, the message she sent was that Denmark is not alone.
